The Ethnic Relations Commission (ERC) on Saturday, December 20th, concluded its 2025 regional holiday  toy distribution exercise with an outreach held under the Kopinang Benab in Region Eight (8), engaging  students from Kopinang Nursery and Kopinang Primary School.

The activity formed part of the Commission’s end-of-year community engagement programme aimed at  spreading holiday cheer while reinforcing messages of unity, mutual respect, and peaceful coexistence among  Guyana’s diverse and remote communities.

Present at the engagement were Commissioners Ashton Simon, Chandrowtie Sarran and Pandit Krishn  Sharma, along with Chief Executive Officer Ms. Gomin Camacho and staff of the ERC.

During the visit, toys were distributed to students, generating excitement and appreciation among children,  teachers, and community members. Beyond the distribution, Commissioners took the opportunity to interact  meaningfully with the students, emphasizing the importance of respect, responsibility, and positive  behaviour, both within the school environment and at home.

The Commissioners underscored that fostering respect for family, neighbours, and the wider community is  essential to nurturing harmony and good relations from an early age. They noted that such engagements are  critical in shaping values that contribute to social cohesion and national unity.

The Ethnic Relations Commission expressed appreciation to the educators and community leaders in  Kopinang for their cooperation and hospitality, noting that their support was instrumental in the successful  execution of the activity.

Gratitude is also extended to His Excellency, President of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana, Dr.  Mohamed Irfaan Ali, for donating a portion of the toys distributed during these exercises.

As the final stop on the Commission’s 2025 regional toy distribution programme, the Kopinang engagement  reaffirmed the ERC’s commitment to ensuring that messages of unity and goodwill reach communities across Guyana.
