The heart of Georgetown will glow once again as Courts Guyana flips the switch on its  beloved Main Street Christmas Light Up on Friday, November 14, 2025, at 5:00pm in front of  the Courts Main Street branch.

More than an annual tradition, the Light Up has become the unofficial opening ceremony of  Christmas in the capital. It is a moment when families gather, children look on in wonder,  and the city’s festive energy begins to rise. This year’s celebration will feature music,  storytelling, and a brilliant burst of holiday lights that will transform Main Street into a  corridor of Christmas magic.

“For us, the Light Up is a yearly reminder of what binds us together,” said Mrs Gillian  Matthews, Managing Director of Unicomer Guyana Incorporated. “It is not simply  illumination. It is an inspiration. It is the joy, unity, and hope that Guyanese families carry  into the season. We are proud to host a moment that continues to lift spirits across the  country.”

The evening’s programme will include live performances from local talent, surprise  giveaways, a cheerful visit from Santa Claus, and the reveal of Courts’ 2025 five “Win the  Wheels” Christmas promotion. This promotion gives customers the chance to enter and win  3 brand-new Proton X50 SUVs, when they purchase a minimum of $19,999 on credit with a  term of 18 months and above.

The event is free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to  experience the complete lineup of entertainment, community connection, and Christmas  cheer.

Year after year, Courts Guyana continues to champion celebration and community, ensuring  that the holiday season begins with brightness, gratitude, and a strong commitment to its  customers.

China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) announced Wednesday the full operation of the second phase of its flagship gas field in the South China Sea, marking the completion of the country's largest offshore natural gas development to date. The progress brings the gas field, named Shenhai Yihao or Deep Sea No. 1, to its designed production capacity of 4.5 billion cubic meters annually, according to CNOOC, the largest offshore oil and gas producer in China.
