The CARICOM Secretariat is once again buzzing with youthful energy as the second in-person session of the CARICOM Young Professionals Programme (CYPP) gets underway. From October 13 to 17, young professionals from across the Region have gathered in Georgetown for a week of dynamic activities, culminating four months of intensive virtual training focused on the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME).

Open to nationals aged 22 to 35, the CYPP is designed to equip future leaders with the skills, knowledge, and experience to champion regional integration. This final week brings participants together for interactive workshops, cultural exchange, and spirited discussions aimed at deepening trust and collaboration across Member States.

Cultural Showcase and Dialogue

The week kicked off with The Little Caribbean Market Experience on October 13 — a vibrant celebration of Caribbean identity where participants showcased their home countries through symbolic items, cuisine, and immersive experiences.

On October 16, attention turns to CSME | Turkeyen Conversation, a collaborative forum hosted with the University of Guyana Indigenous Students Association and the University of Guyana Students Society (UGSS). The session is expected to spark meaningful dialogue around youth engagement and regional integration.

The programme will conclude on October 17 with the Presentation of CYPP Certificates, recognising the achievements and commitment of participants throughout the four-month journey.

A High-Impact Week

“We have been working virtually over the past few months on capacity-building initiatives. Today, we are thrilled to welcome them back for the in-person sessions,” said Michele Small-Bartley, Programme Manager for Youth Development at the CARICOM Secretariat. “This will be a high-impact week filled with interactive learning and powerful conversations around the CSME.”

About the CYPP

Launched to strengthen youth leadership across the Caribbean, the CYPP offers immersive training, hands-on workshops, and experiential learning opportunities focused on navigating and promoting the CSME. The first in-person session was held in June 2025. This final gathering aims to build on that momentum, empowering a new generation of regional changemakers.

These young professionals are not just reflecting on their journey — they’re stepping forward as confident voices for a more connected, collaborative Caribbean future.
