An internal investigation into alleged misconduct at the Guyana Police Force’s Academy in Georgetown has been completed, and the matter is now with the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice, HGPTV has reported.
According to the Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR), the probe was launched promptly after reports of “inappropriate conduct” were brought to the attention of the Commissioner of Police. Investigators moved swiftly, gathering statements from both recruits and staff members at the Academy.
In what appears to be an effort to protect the integrity of the investigation, one officer and three sergeants have been transferred from the institution pending further action.
The finalised case file, submitted on October 13, 2025, could lead to criminal charges, depending on the DPP’s assessment. The OPR’s swift handling of the matter and the administrative moves already taken highlight the seriousness of the allegations, placing the spotlight on accountability within the Force’s training environment.
