October 5, is being celebrated under the theme:- ‘Together for Teachers, together for Tomorrow,’ an exciting and empowering theme which gives home to a group of professionals who are simply the best. May I remind, that teaching is not just a job, it is a calling and that not everyone is cut out for the classroom.

Our teachers have exhibited the essence of what it means to teach, the core values of patience, passion, sacrifice and the heart for people. For teaching entails way more than textbooks and planned lessons, it is about shaping minds and building character thus enabling our learners to grow to their full potential which is why the theme this year is seeking to remain all and sundry that we must stand together with our teachers.

We call on the government to invest in our teachers, to honour your obligations owed to teachers and to recognise the selfless contributions and sacrifices they have made to this Nation. We call on the government to adhere to the rule of law which you continue to ignore. Give our teachers what is due to them.

In conclusion, allow me to express thanks to all teachers across the length and breadth of this dear Land for your unending support, your tolerance and love for what you do every day, every week, every month, quarter and year. There is absolutely no amount of monies that could be attached as a reward or payment for what you do. So, in celebrating you our MVPs, do remember that you’re Unique and the best preparation for tomorrow is to continue doing your best today.

Happy Teachers’ Day with love and God’s blessings.
