By Darren Wade- It is imperative that the People’s National Congress (PNC) puts the pieces together and focuses intently on rebuilding. Our party must be allowed to rebuild from the bottom up, ensuring that policy and decisions truly originate from our membership.
The current leadership and Central Executive must refrain from forcing its will upon the party and, crucially, must stop taking our supporters and members for granted.
To achieve genuine success, we must earn the confidence of every Guyanese citizen. This begins by establishing a culture within the PNC where:
Fairness, transparency, and objective methodologies are clearly evident in all party operations.
Every member feels they can make a meaningful contribution and knows they will not be overlooked in favour of those merely close to leadership.
We must build a party where every individual trusts that their effort and talent will be recognised and valued.
I intend to personally move around Guyana and meet with groups for the express purpose of restructuring and rebuilding the party from the grassroots.
This process requires introspection at every level. While it is natural for human beings to be self-interested, every Central Executive member must examine their motives and determine if their actions are for their own benefit or for the good of the party. They must act in the interest of the PNC.
Ultimately, Party membership must decide: Are we content with the status quo, or are we ready to fundamentally change the way we operate?
I want to reassure every member that I am always willing and prepared to work tirelessly for a better PNC and, by extension, a better Guyana.
