Dear Editor,
In just 24 hours, Guyanese will once again cast their vote, and I take this opportunity to encourage every eligible citizen to participate fully in this process. Voting is not only a constitutional right but also a sacred responsibility, for the change we all long for depends on the decision we make on Monday, September 1, 2025.
I implore my fellow citizens to look beyond the rhetoric of infrastructural development. While roads and bridges are important to nation-building, the true wealth of Guyana lies in its people. Human capital must be equally prioritized if we are to build a just and prosperous society.
Despite the unprecedented inflow of oil resources, the PPP/C Government has squandered the greatest opportunity to transform the lives of ordinary people. Their approach, awarding contracts here and there, has bred widespread dissatisfaction. Worse still, they have weakened systems of transparency and accountability, eroding public trust and confidence.
The record of infractions under their watch is undeniable; the brutal killings of innocent youths such as the Henry Boys, Naresh Singh, and most recently Adriana Younge; the injustice in the death of Orin Boston, etal; the dismissal of competent professionals who served under the Coalition; and the rising tide of corruption, nepotism, injustice, and unbearable cost of living. These failures must weigh heavily on our minds as we cast our votes. They must also be compared with the Coalition Government’s record, a government that, without oil revenues, still delivered programs and policies that uplifted communities and improved lives.
At these elections, six political parties are contesting. I will not be biased, but I firmly believe that APNU has presented the most people-centered and sustainable policies in its manifesto. These policies focus not only on infrastructure but also on education, employment, and equity, addressing the needs of every Guyanese from childhood into adulthood.
Therefore, I urge every voter: let your mark on the ballot be a mark against corruption, injustice, discrimination, and victimization. Let your mark be for fairness, equity, equality, justice, peace, and a better Guyana where all can live in harmony.
Vote wisely. Vote APNU.
