The Guyana Public Service Union (GPSU) was accredited as a Local Observer Group by the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) for the upcoming 2025 General and Regional Elections on September 1, 2025. On Friday August 22, 2025 the Union observed the Discipline Forces voting at several locations. The GPSU will be observing the Elections in various Administrative Regions on Monday September 1, 2025.

As we approach September 1, 2025 where eligible voters will be heading to the polls to exercise their constitutional mandate by voting for a political party of their choice, the GPSU is calling on all citizens of Guyana to conduct themselves in a peaceful and responsible manner. Additionally, the GPSU is also urging all Leaders and Supporters of Political Parties to encourage supporters to be peaceful, professional and responsible before, during and after the polls.

The GPSU views this upcoming General and Regional Elections very seriously and more so, as one of the most consequential elections in Guyana’s electoral history. Therefore, the Union encourages GECOM to continue to perform its duties as an independent Commission and to ensure that the Laws of Guyana that governs the conduct of an election is respected by all Guyanese, to uphold the transparency and integrity of the electoral process.

The GPSU is once again calling on all citizens of Guyana to respect the electoral process, and to exercise their democratic rights in a peaceful and responsible manner on September 1, 2025.
