Veteran educator and Senior Graduate Assistant Mistress, Ms. Toshana Famey Corlette, has issued a powerful endorsement of the We Invest in Nationhood (WIN) movement, calling for visionary leadership rooted in service, integrity and investment in people, especially through education.

Corlette, who has spent her life shaping young minds in the classroom, says Guyana is at a defining moment, and the path forward must ensure that “no child, no family, and no community is left behind.” Speaking from years of frontline experience, she highlights the challenges facing students, teachers and families, from a lack of school supplies to untapped youth potential, and argues that education is the foundation of national progress.

“When we invest in education, we invest in the future of our nation,” she declares, quoting Nelson Mandela: “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”

Corlette praises WIN for its honesty, inclusivity and people-driven agenda, saying the movement represents the kind of leadership Guyana needs, leadership that values every citizen and puts real resources into classrooms, teacher support, youth training and job creation.

She stresses that education should not be viewed as an expense but as “the greatest investment”, and believes that under WIN’s leadership, Guyana can unlock the potential of its people and rise as a stronger, more united nation.

Her message concludes with a rallying call for collective progress:

“Together, we will rise. Together, we will build. Together, we will WIN.”

Corlette’s endorsement is a passionate appeal for change, driven by her belief that a better Guyana begins with bold investment in its people, starting in the classroom.

See endorsement letter below:

Dear Fellow Guyanese,

Guyana is rising, and with it comes the responsibility to ensure that no child, no family, and no community is left behind. At this defining moment, leadership must be about service, vision, and integrity, not empty promises.

I am Toshana Famey Corlette, an educator, a Senior Graduate Assistant Mistress, and a woman committed to shaping a brighter future through the power of learning. I have spent my life in

classrooms, moulding young minds, advocating for children, and fighting for equity in education. I know firsthand that when we invest in education, we invest in the future of our nation.

That is why I proudly endorse the We Invest in Nationhood (WIN) movement. WIN represents honesty, inclusivity, and people-driven progress. The very principles that can transform our schools, empower our youth, and uplift every Guyanese household. I have seen too many children without school supplies, too many families without opportunities, and too many young people with untapped potential. Education is the key to unlocking it all.

As Nelson Mandela powerfully said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” These words guide my mission and reflect WIN’s vision for a Guyana where every child has access to quality education, every teacher is supported, and every citizen is empowered.

Our children deserve classrooms that inspire them. Our teachers deserve respect and resources. Our youth deserve training, mentorship, and jobs. Our nation deserves leaders who understand

that education is not an expense; it is the greatest investment. I strongly believe that by investing in our people and our schools, and with WIN’s leadership guiding the way, we can build a Guyana where every classroom opens doors to opportunity, every community becomes a place of hope, and every citizen is empowered to reach their full potential. Together, our country can rise stronger, united, and brighter than ever before.

Together, we will rise.

Together, we will build.

Together, we will WIN.

Sincerely,

Ms. Toshana Famey Corlette

Candidate, We Invest in Nationhood
