The Beijing municipal government announced on Tuesday temporary no-fly restrictions across nine districts from July 16 to Sept 3 to ensure aviation safety during commemorative events marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1931-45) and the World Anti-Fascist War.

The restrictions apply to Dongcheng, Xicheng, Chaoyang, Haidian, Fengtai, Shijingshan, Tongzhou, Changping, and Mentougou. The move aims to safeguard flight operations during the commemorative events and prohibit the release of any objects that could compromise aviation safety, the notice said.

All launches of drones, kites, balloons, sky lanterns, and other airborne objects are strictly prohibited, according to the announcement.

In Tongzhou, pigeon and bird breeders must confine their animals daily from 6:00 am to 5:00 pm starting July 16. Similar restrictions will apply in the other eight districts from Aug 15, with confinement hours from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Furthermore, the local pigeon associations have been called upon to ensure strict adherence to regulations among its members, lofts, and clubs to prevent any interference with flight safety.

Local district governments are tasked with conducting thorough inspections in collaboration with relevant authorities to identify and address any potential hazards to flight safety within the restricted areas.

Violations will be met with penalties, and criminal activities will be prosecuted in accordance with the law, the notice added.
