Urban areas were submerged and residents trapped as intense rainfall hit many parts of China from Monday to Tuesday morning. As the rain eased in Henan, Hubei and other provincial regions, local authorities launched efforts to clear silt and rebuild.

In Taiping Town, central China’s Henan Province, a sudden extreme downpour caused rivers to swell, damaging roads and other infrastructure. On Tuesday, parts of the town lost power and communications due to road collapsing in the area.

County authorities dispatched teams to assess the damage and repair the facilities. All affected residents and visitors have now been evacuated to safer areas on either side of the river.
