Guyanese-owned brand Nomads Carnival has announced its return to carnival and intends to be bigger than its “unforgettable debut on the Labour Day Carnival scene last year.”

Organisers said via a press release that Nomads, launched by entertainment mogul Marlon “Freedom” Jacobs, is the first Guyanese-owned and operated brand to make an indelible mark on Brooklyn’s iconic Labor Day Carnival.

Jacobs is described as a serial entrepreneur and cultural visionary known for producing some of the most successful, sold-out events.

Last year’s reception was massive, organisers claimed saying, “Thousands of masqueraders flooded the Brooklyn streets under the Guyana flag, backed by support from the One Guyana and the presence of top government ministers, including Minister Onika Walrond and Minister Susan Rodrigues.”

According to the statement, the brand has evolved from a single-day road march and in 2025 will be a fully branded Carnival weekend from August 29 to September 1.

The calendar is set to feature four signature events:

•          MADD J’ouvert – August 29

•          Cooler Fete – August 30

•          Friends With Benefits (FWB) – August 31

•          Nomads Monday Road March – September 1

“Nomads is more than a costume band; it’s now a movement. It’s about presence. It’s about energy. It’s about putting Guyanese excellence on the global stage.”

Jacobs said.

The brand also announced its decision to continue collaborating with homegrown designers to curate high-impact costumes and experiences that are visually stunning and rich in Caribbean and Guyanese spirit.

With registration now open, persons will soon have access to costume packages and non-costume experiences available for those looking to be part of the action organisers said.

The 2025 costume band will officially launch on July 4th at one of Marlon’s signature annual event- Drinks, Ice, Soca! Revelers will have a close-up look on the masterpieces created for the road, the release revealed.

“The long-term vision for Nomads is bold: take the brand global. Plans are already underway for future appearances at other major carnivals, including Miami, Notting Hill, and Guyana Carnival, creating a mobile Guyanese presence across international stages,” the release stated.
