Kalyca Fraser, Guyana Tennis Association coach successfully completed her University of Delaware International Coaching Enrichment Certification Program. She was nominated to participate in the course by the Guyana Tennis Association (GTA) through the Guyana Olympic Association (GOA) and supported by Olympic Solidarity.
Her selection formed part of the GOA’s strategic plan of ensuring that the Association maximizes and optimizes the opportunities for accessing available Olympic Solidarity grants, with the key aim of supporting the development of coaching expertise and capacities for our affiliate members.
The scholarship-based coaching education programme commenced on April 8, 2024, and ended April 28, 2025, and was open to national coaches from around the world.
The programme was hosted and coordinated by the University of Delaware in collaboration with the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC), and available to National Olympic Committees and their affiliates.
It aims to assist national-level and active coaches with enhanced coaching and leadership skills and the latest coaching principles and in developing proficiency in the areas of sport sciences, talent identification, athlete development, safe sport, coaching education, coaching management and grassroots sport development. In addition to proficiency in the technical, theoretical, conceptual, managerial and ethical aspects of coaching at all levels of competition.
The intended outcome is for successful ICECP participants to return to their countries, serve as both coaches and experts within their respective sports developing national coaching structures in their countries with a practical programme and become foundation builders for future coaches and athletes while spreading the Olympic and Paralympic spirit.
Kalyca’s execution of her project as part of her thesis “Inspiring Growth: Building the Foundations of Tennis Development in Guyana, was truly an exemplary one. Her project was commended for its depth, vision, and practical relevance to the future of tennis in Guyana showcasing her commitment and drive for excellence in the advancement of tennis in Guyana

Reflecting on her ICECP experience, Kalyca shared:
“The undertaking of this project truly formed a life-changing experience”, having direct access to such dedicated knowledgeable and experience mentors and world-class lecturers who supported us in bringing our projects to life, was an incredible privilege. The final module in Lausanne not only deepened our knowledge in key areas but also allowed us to form lasting bonds and networks with our peers and instructors. One of the most unforgettable moments was receiving my graduation diploma from Mr. Thomas Bach, President of the IOC—an honor that made the entire journey even more meaningful.” I wish to thank the University of Delaware and the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic, Guyana Tennis Association, Guyana Olympic Association my family and all who supported me and made this opportunity possible”
Kalyca Fraser now joins a distinguished network of ICECP graduates worldwide. She was awarded a certificate jointly issued by the University of Delaware and the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee, further cementing her role as a leader and builder in Guyana’s sporting future.
