Guyana, Venezuela Clash at ICJ as Hearings Continue Over Validity of 1899 Border Award

Yesterday, as we observed Indian Arrival Day, The Institute for Action Against Discrimination (IFAAD) honours the strength, sacrifice, and enduring legacy of the Indian indentured labourers who arrived on these shores 187 years ago. Their journey was one of hardship and resilience, but from their struggles bloomed a vibrant culture, rich traditions, and a vital contribution to the social, economic, and political fabric of our nation.
We pay tribute not only to their history but to the generations that followed, who have continued to uplift Guyana through their perseverance, enterprise, and unwavering commitment to justice and equality.
As we reflect on this significant day, we also recommit ourselves to the principles of inclusion, equity, and the elimination of all forms of discrimination. Let Indian Arrival Day be a reminder of the strength found in unity and the importance of honouring the diverse heritage that defines who we are as a people.
Happy Indian Arrival Day, Guyana.
