The Cheddi Jagan International Airport Corporation (CJIAC) and the Clerical and Commercial Workers’ Union (CCWU) have strengthened their longstanding partnership with the signing of a new Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), aimed at enhancing employee welfare and job security.

The agreement was formally signed on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at the Ministry of Labour’s boardroom, witnessed by Chief Labour Officer Dhaneshwar Deonarine, according to a statement from the Ministry.

A key feature of the new agreement is a commitment to salary increases over the next two years, which will be no less than those granted by the Government of Guyana to public servants during the same period.

“This collective labour agreement is a testament to management’s commitment to improving the welfare of our employees,” said Ishwari Glasgow, Director of Finance and Administration at CJIAC.

CCWU General Secretary Sherwood Clarke welcomed the development, describing the agreement as a “historic and positive step” in the union’s relationship with airport management. He emphasised the importance of continued collaboration to ensure workers’ rights and benefits are protected.

The agreement marks another milestone in the efforts by both parties to promote fair labour practices and strengthen industrial relations at one of the country’s most vital national institutions.
