Millions Spent, Yet Power Cuts Persist

Dear Editor,
Information is circulating that a prime parcel of land, a huge tract in Georgetown, between GDF Compound and National Park, which was formerly GT&T compound, has been passed on to a loyal financier of the PPP and friend of ranking officials of government.
The land was leased for the longest period of time to GT&T and then suddenly discontinued and now sold to the friend of ranking officials of government. Was it an underhand deal?
This parcel of government land was leased to GT&T earning the government revenues. It is not known why GT&T is no longer leasing it.  As is best known, the land was not advertised for purchase or lease. There was no known public tender.
And there was no information on the expected price or how much was offered for it. Why that particular purchaser and how much? Why was it not advertised to fetch the highest price in bidding?
It is being circulated that the person who acquires the land previously benefited from other government sweetheart deals including Sanata Textile, GPC, other land lots, billions of dollars in contracts annually, and leasing land to Exxon that has not been put to use by Exxon which has been paying huge rents for its non-use, among other lucrative deals.
I call on government to come clean on this questionable, dubious land transaction.
Can the government confirm the person who acquires the prime real estate land. Is it the same person who got the Sanata Textile compound and billions of dollars in contracts to supply drugs to the government?
Yours truly,
Nathan Barton
