Ogunseye Urges National Stand Against Political Fear

Guyana continues its slide toward full blown dictatorship but we stand with Melissa Ann Atwell and the work she has done to shine light on the darkest acts of corruption. She has been one of the only safe spaces for whistleblowers in Guyana to speak about corruption and provide evidence because this government are decidedly pro-corruption and authoritarian.

Through her posts, hundreds of thousands of us are more aware of the kleptocracy within which we live and the urgent need for change.

If you don’t support her for revealing corruption then do so because in an environment like this, it is only a matter of time before the state uses its weapons against you for having the wrong opinion or speaking the simple truth.

Finally I would just like to ask all the supporters of dictatorship and malice to identify themselves by leaving a laugh emoji as a reaction to this post.

What the government have certainly underestimated with this orchestration is how much it will continue to turn the tide of public opinion against them.

In trying to solve the problem of someone demanding accountability, they have set about creating a martyr.
Do you think the administration were writing glowing articles about Rosa Parks back in the day? I think not but she started a movement.

Do you think Nelson Mandela had the red carpet rolled out for him by his oppressors? His persecution actually hastened the fall of apartheid. He was also called an extremist.

The attack on Melly Mell is also an attack on the citizens of Guyana because it shows this government would go to any lengths to shut down channels of communication the people deem important. History will not forget this moment.
