NEW YORK, United States – Rising Guyanese track star Attoya Harvey, a sophomore at Monroe College, has been honored as the 2025 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Atlantic Region Women’s Athlete of the Year.

Harvey’s outstanding season has solidified her status as one of the top collegiate athletes in the region. She has qualified for a region-leading six events at the National Championships and holds the top ranking in three individual events—the 600m, 800m, and 1000m—as well as in the 4x400m relay and distance medley relay. She also boasts a top-ten national ranking in four of her six qualified events.

This latest recognition follows her recent title as Women’s Track Athlete of the Year, awarded by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), further cementing her dominance in the sport.

Adding to Monroe College’s accolades, head coach Shirvon Greene and assistant coach Shanique McKenzie-Daniel were also recognized, earning the titles of Atlantic Region Women’s Head Coach of the Year and Assistant Coach of the Year, respectively.

Harvey’s continued success signals a bright future for Guyanese athletics on the international stage, as she remains a standout performer in collegiate track and field.
