Sexual Assault Allegations Made Against Another Prominent MAGA American

By Mark DaCosta- Allegations of sexual assault against Matt Schlapp, a prominent Republican figure and chairman of the American Conservative Union (ACU), have surfaced, with claims that he inappropriately touched a man at a Virginia restaurant and bar. Six witnesses and the alleged victim corroborate the incident, with new evidence adding weight to the accusations.

Matt Schlapp, a key conservative political figure known for his leadership at CPAC (the Conservative Political Action Conference), has long been a vocal supporter of President Donald Trump. His reputation and influence within the Republican Party have remained strong, despite a history of sexual misconduct allegations against him, including the reported settlement of a previous claim for nearly $500,000. The latest accusations, reported by journalist Yashar Ali, involve a disturbing incident at a Virginia establishment near a property Schlapp owns with his wife.

According to the alleged victim and eyewitnesses, Schlapp behaved aggressively in a social setting, making the individuals around him uncomfortable. The man at the centre of the allegations, who was reportedly not gay, claimed that Schlapp persistently followed him around the venue and stood uncomfortably close.

The alleged victim stated that the discomfort escalated when Schlapp physically touched him without consent. As the man confronted Schlapp, informing him that he was in a relationship with a woman, the incident allegedly intensified with Schlapp gripping the man’s genitals while maintaining an assertive gaze. The man reported the incident to the manager of the venue, resulting in Schlapp’s removal from the premises. However, Schlapp reportedly returned to the venue later, leading to further confrontation.

Although surveillance footage and photographic evidence reportedly confirm Schlapp’s presence at the venue, some have questioned whether the high-profile conservative figure will face significant consequences. Notably, Schlapp has continued to hold his leadership position within the conservative movement, even in light of past accusations. Critics suggest that his continued prominence reflects the lack of accountability for influential figures in the current political climate in the United States, particularly given the context of President Trump’s own legal battles related to similar allegations.

The U.S. President was found liable in a civil case for sexual abuse and defamation after author E. Jean Carroll accused him of assaulting her in the 1990s. Despite denying the allegations, Trump’s legal troubles culminated in a 2023 verdict, where a jury awarded Carroll $5 million in damages. The case added fuel to the ongoing debate over how powerful figures in conservative politics are treated when confronted with allegations of sexual misconduct.

Analysts say that the legal issues against President Trump – which have now been swept under the carpet – coupled with the accusations against Schlapp, underscore a troubling pattern within the Republican Party’s leadership. With accusations ranging from sexual assault to inappropriate behaviour, it remains uncertain whether figures like Schlapp will ever face real consequences for their actions. For many, these incidents are emblematic of a larger issue within the movement, where accountability for sexual misconduct seems to be deferred or ignored, particularly when those involved are powerful, conservative voices aligned with Trump.

As Schlapp faces fresh allegations, questions about the culture of the conservative movement in the United States continue to surface. It remains unclear whether these latest claims will lead to tangible repercussions. While the American Conservative Union and CPAC continue to be prominent fixtures in conservative politics, the situation raises significant concerns about the treatment of sexual misconduct allegations within the political sphere and the new reality of influential figures to remain unscathed despite serious accusations.

As of now, Schlapp has not publicly responded to the new allegations, and it is unclear whether further legal actions will be taken. The outcome of this case may have broader implications for how allegations of sexual misconduct are handled in conservative circles, potentially shaping the future of the movement and its leaders.
