CARIBBEAN AIRLINES has been ranked third for on-time arrivals in the Latin American region for 2024, according to aviation data provider Cirium.

The report, released on Thursday, revealed that over 85% of Caribbean Airlines flights arrived within 15 minutes of their scheduled time.

On-time arrivals are classified as the percentage of completed flights that arrived at the gate on time.

The top ten winners in the Latin America region, according to the Cirium On-Time Performance Report 2024.

“On time is defined as arriving within 15 minutes of the scheduled arrival time. The on-time arrival ranking is used to determine the top performing airline,” Cirium stated.

Caribbean Airlines was the only Caribbean carrier listed among the top ten winners, with Copa Airlines and Aeromexico taking the top two spots in Latin America.

The report also highlighted that Caribbean Airlines achieved a Completion Factor of 99.06% for 2024.

The Completion Factor refers to the percentage of tracked flights that were completed, meaning not cancelled. Of a total of 29,770 flights, 99.88% were tracked.

Contacted for comment yesterday executive manager of Corporate Communications at Caribbean Airlines Dionne Ligoure lauded the accomplishment.

“Caribbean Airlines applauds and welcomes this recognition arising from the Cirium On-Time performance report for 2024—more so as (we are) the sole Caribbean carrier to achieve this, and our on-time performance is above the industry standard. This is a noteworthy achievement and for this I thank our valued customers for their continued support, and our operations teams who work tirelessly and diligently every day to ensure that we maintain our on-time performance,” Ligoure said.

“I also thank all of the hard-working employees at Caribbean Airlines who continue to perform. And of course, we could not do this without the support of our valued stakeholders—and again, our customers. So I wish everyone all the very best for 2025 as we continue to be the airline of choice for the region and beyond,” she said.

Cirium has rated airlines for timeliness for more than 16 years.

“In 2024, the aviation industry demonstrated incredible resilience and adaptability, overcoming challenges ranging from cybersecurity disruptions, such as the CrowdStrike outage, to weather anomalies that tested global travel operations. Despite these hurdles, airlines and airports continued to prioritise operational excellence, achieving impressive levels of reliability and passenger satisfaction,” Cirium’s chief executive officer Jeremy Bowen stated.

“The 2024 Cirium On-Time Review honours top-performing airlines and airports that achieved exceptional on-time performance rates. These leaders exemplify service reliability, setting new benchmarks in a dynamic and evolving environment. This year’s review showcases these achievements while introducing several exciting updates, reinforcing Cirium’s role as the industry’s trusted source for actionable insights and innovation,” Bowen stated.

Aeromexico had the world’s best record for on-time arrivals in 2024, according to Cirium.

According to Cirium’s marketing director—Americas & Strategic Programs, Lydia Webb 2024 can be marked as the year of operational excellence for Latin American airlines and airports.

“The region’s airlines and airports were among the top-ranking performers in the global airlines and airports categories throughout the year,” Webb stated.

Aeromexico’s performance means that, for the third consecutive year, a South American carrier has been ranked first in the world for annual on-time performance.

Aeromexico beat 2023 winner Avianca, which fell to seventh, according to the report.

Saudia Airlines jumped to second at 86.35% from ninth last year.

Delta Air Lines rounded out the overall top three at 83.46%. Last year it had been fourth.

Delta once again led North American carriers and for the fourth year in a row won the Cirium Platinum Award for global operational excellence—despite its operational setback in July due to the CrowdStrike IT outage.

“Delta rebounded, showcasing their effective crisis management and the depth of their operational infrastructure,” according to the report. Daily Express News
