The U.S. Embassy in Guyana has announced that Guyanese athlete Malachi Austin has officially signed with Louisiana State University (LSU) Athletics on an athletic scholarship. This milestone follows his standout performance during the U.S. Embassy’s Sports Envoy track and field program in August 2024.

Ambassador Theriot, an LSU alumna, recognized Malachi’s exceptional talent and facilitated his connection with LSU Athletics. Now a student-athlete at LSU, Malachi joins one of the world’s top programs renowned for both athletic and academic excellence.
