Suman M. Budhram, fondly called Alicia, is a remarkable Guyanese entrepreneur, author, psychologist, and well-being coach. With a diverse background and extensive experience, she has made significant contributions to the business, well-being, and mental health sectors in Guyana. Born, raised, and educated in Mahaicony, Region 5, Alicia completed her education from nursery to secondary school in her hometown.

After completing high school, she became a teacher at her alma mater, Mahaicony Secondary School. In 2001, Budhram embarked on her entrepreneurial journey by opening her first business, a general store called SUPAVALU. Under Alicia’s leadership, SUPAVALU expanded its services to include an internet café, restaurant, boutique, wholesale department, and even bill payment and money transfer facilities. As the CEO for 23 years, Alicia’s vision and business acumen propelled the supermarket into a leading name in Guyana’s retail sector.

Suman wrote a book name Fragrance of the Heart: Poetry and Prose, which can be found on Amazon (https://bit.ly/3ZCgzWG) and is available in both hard copy and Kindle/digital format. In August 2019, she launched another anthology of poems under the title Spontaneous Deluge.

Alicia’s Journey into Holistic Wellness

In 2011, Alicia discovered the practice of meditation, which became a transformative tool in her life. Seeking answers and personal growth, she embarked on a holistic journey and worked with a life coach, deepening her spiritual connection. Alicia’s thirst for knowledge grew, leading her to study psychology in 2018 at the American University of Peace Studies while using poetry writing to explore her creative side. Alicia’s commitment to holistic wellness extends beyond traditional practices, as she has been a devoted meditation practitioner for the past 13 years. This personal experience has deepened her understanding of the mind-body connection and the transformative power of mindfulness.

Driven by her passion for personal development and supporting others, Alicia embarked on a new journey as a psychologist and well-being coach. Leveraging her expertise and empathetic nature, she has dedicated the past few years to helping individuals enhance their mental and emotional well-being, guiding them toward a more fulfilling and purposeful life.

Through her combined roles as a psychologist, well-being coach, and entrepreneur, Alicia is known for her compassionate approach to creating a safe and supportive space for her clients and employees alike. Her unique blend of business acumen, psychological insight, and spiritual practices allows her to provide comprehensive guidance and support to individuals seeking personal growth, empowerment, and holistic well-being.

With a strong belief in every individual’s unlimited potential, Alicia continues to inspire and uplift those she encounters. Her dedication to elevating consciousness, promoting self-awareness, and nurturing love and compassion aligns with her vision of positively impacting humanity as a whole.

Alicia strongly believes in the power of internalizing psychology to transform one’s life trajectory and create positive changes in their environment. She wears many hats, including being an environmentalist, vegetarian, poet, writer, meditator, holistic spiritual life coach, and facilitator of self-awareness and mental health.

Suman Budhram graduated from the American University of Peace Studies in 2022. She is presently pursuing a master’s from John Moores University in Psychology. 

With a mantra of “Let work be your source of fun and joy,” Alicia emphasizes the importance of finding joy in what we do. She sees life as a blessing rather than just a lesson. Apart from her love for learning and self-expression, Alicia finds joy in oceanic walks, nature hikes, observing nature, sun and moon baths, traveling, cooking, baking, and engaging in scintillating conversations.

Passionate about the Earth and Conservation, Alicia dedicates herself to voluntary humanitarian work, focusing on helping others find their place in the universe, teaching self-awareness and empowerment, and raising awareness about suicide prevention. She firmly believes that every individual possesses immense intellectual capacity and potential for greatness, and true power lies within. Alicia advocates for self-development as a crucial tool for mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual growth, firmly believing that personal transformation can positively impact the world.

With her unique blend of entrepreneurship, psychology, spiritual wisdom, and a deep connection to nature, Alicia M. Budhram continues to inspire and empower others to lead meaningful and fulfilling lives.

I-ology Total Well-being Hub is a business developed by Alicia, which is a dedicated space for counseling, coaching, and guidance, empowering individuals to achieve self-sufficiency and intentionally create the life they desire. She drives this business with her bachelor’s degree in psychology and certifications from Deepak Chopra’s courses in well-being and health. Founded with a deep sense of purpose, I-ology aims to address the pressing need for mental and emotional well-being in today’s society. I-ology is committed to helping individuals rebuild their lives, providing practical tools and techniques for healing and transformation.

The ultimate goal is to assist clients in developing the necessary skills and mindset to navigate life’s challenges with resilience, purpose, and reclaiming their power.”
