Prime Minister Andrew Holness has added a new academic milestone to his impressive career. After years of dedication, he has earned a doctoral degree in Law and Policy from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. This remarkable achievement comes as he continues to balance his role as Jamaica’s head of government with his academic pursuits.

Ambassador Audrey Marks, Jamaica’s representative to the United States and a prominent figure in the Jamaican diaspora, took to social media to express her congratulations. “Please join me in congratulating Dr. Andrew Holness on earning a doctoral degree in Law and Policy from the prestigious Northeastern University in Boston, USA. This is a significant achievement, especially for all who are studying while working full time!” she wrote, highlighting the extraordinary feat of balancing such an intensive academic program with the demands of national leadership.

Prime Minister Holness’ dissertation, titled *”From the States to the Streets: The Impact of US Gun Laws on Gun Violence in Jamaica,”* focuses on a critical issue that continues to affect both Jamaica and its international relations. According to Ambassador Marks, the dissertation provides “an in-depth research into this most pressing issue” and promises to be “most impactful in Jamaica’s continued engagement with the USA as we seek to solve this urgent problem.”

Prime Minister Holness’ research delves into how U.S. gun laws influence gun violence in Jamaica, offering new insights into an issue that has long been a concern for policymakers. His work is expected to provide a significant contribution to the ongoing dialogue between Jamaica and the United States on addressing gun violence, a matter of great importance in the region.
