Guyana Reaffirms Strategic Partnership as US Marks 250 Years of Independence

During the closing ceremony, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport, Charles Ramson Jr noted the Government’s continuous investments in the steel pan industry to create talented and prominent players throughout the nation.

Since Guyana’s independence (May 26, 1966), steel pan has formed part of its repertoire of music and musical instruments. Big pan like the New Opportunity Corp, Chronicle Atlantic Symphony Steel Orchestra, The Young Entertainers, Guyana Police Force Band, Bidco Invaders Steel Pan Orchestra, etc., played prominent role at national events such as Mashramani and Independence and when Guyana hosted overseas dignitaries

The Government said as part of cricket carnival events it will be adding these new steel pan talents to the schedule, allowing them to have a feel of the big stage.
