To bolster Guyana’s efforts to further enhance data collection to eliminate all forms of violence against women and girls, Mr. Gerardo Noto, Resident Representative of United Nations Development Programme to Guyana and Suriname, handed over various ICT equipment and furniture procured through the Spotlight Initiative to the Honourable Robeson Benn, Minister of Home Affairs. The handover ceremony took place on 23 July 2024 in the Conference Room of the Minister’s Brickdam Office.

This support empowers the Ministry and by extension the Guyana Police Force to combat and reduce gender-based violence (GBV) more effectively through better data collection, management and supportive work environments. Moreover, these investments will significantly support victims in their journey to justice and recovery.
This partnership between UNDP and the Ministry of Home Affairs positively contributes to the Sustainable Development Goal 5 on achieving Gender Equality and empowering all women and girls.
