Today marks a thrilling milestone for drone sports in Guyana as the national drone soccer league proudly welcomes three new teams from Linden, Bartica, and Mainstay Lake. These new additions join the already established four teams representing Region 4, signaling a vibrant expansion of this innovative sport across the nation.
The latest teams from Linden, Essequibo, and Bartica received specialized training to prepare for their participation in the Guyana National Drone Soccer League. This training not only honed their drone piloting skills but also equipped them with the technical know-how to build, service, and operate drones with the precision and expertise akin to professional race car drivers. These teams will also represent the Learning Pods from across Guyana, bringing advanced opportunities to young scholars nationwide. After training, each team was presented with 4 drone soccer kits.
“We are proud to see our young scholars from across the nation embrace drone soccer with such enthusiasm,” said Leon Christian, President of Drone Soccer Guyana. “Players in the league will be the most skilled drone pilots in the region. Our players not only learn to fly drones but they also learn to build, service, and operate the drones with the skills of a professional race car driver.”
Drone Soccer Guyana highlighted on their social media page the exciting prospects this sport introduces to young scholars, opening doors to new careers in the burgeoning drone industry. The skills acquired through drone soccer training can lead to opportunities in various sectors such as agriculture, land surveying, real estate, photography, criminal justice, oil and gas, mining, education, and many others.
The Thrill of Drone Soccer
Drone soccer is a captivating and innovative sport that combines the excitement of drone flying with the competitive spirit of traditional soccer. Teams pilot drones within an enclosed arena, maneuvering them through goalposts to score points. The drones, equipped with protective exoskeletons, are built to withstand the high-impact collisions that are part of the game’s dynamic nature. This sport demands not only superior flying skills but also strategic thinking and teamwork, making it a thrilling experience for both participants and spectators.
The Federation of International Dronesoccer Association (FIDA) serves as the global governing body for drone soccer. Dedicated to promoting and developing the sport worldwide, FIDA establishes game rules, organizes international competitions, and supports the sport’s growth through educational programs and partnerships. By bringing together drone enthusiasts and athletes from around the world, FIDA fosters a community that celebrates innovation, sportsmanship, and the exhilaration of competition.
