In a heartwarming display of dedication and academic excellence, a young boy hailing from Region Three (Essequibo Islands/West Demerara) has captured the attention and admiration of his peers and educators alike by achieving the highest scores in the National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA) at his school.
The NGSA, a pivotal examination in Guyana, marks a significant milestone in a primary school student’s educational journey, determining placement into secondary schools. For this young achiever, Sanjiv Sewsankar, this accomplishment is not just a personal triumph but a testament to the power of perseverance and hard work.
Sanjiv was named the top performer for the Uitvlugt school at this year’s National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA). This young scholar has demonstrated exceptional academic prowess, topping his school’s performance in the NGSA. He scored 491.71 points, earning him a spot at Saint Stanislaus College in Georgetown. His journey to success is a story of determination, supported by the unwavering encouragement of his teachers and the steadfast backing of his family.

In an interview, his teacher described him as a diligent student who consistently displayed a hunger for knowledge and a keen interest in learning. They highlighted his disciplined approach to studying and his ability to grasp complex concepts with ease, setting him apart from his peers.
The boy’s mom, beaming with pride, shared how dedicated he was, recounting late-night study sessions and weekends spent studying in pursuit of excellence. “He attended various online classes up until the very last,…..” she added. His parents’ unwavering support and belief in his abilities served as a guiding light throughout his academic journey.
For his school community, his achievement serves as a source of inspiration and pride, reinforcing the belief that, with determination and hard work, any goal is within reach. His success not only highlights the potential of students from Region Three but also underscores the importance of a supportive environment in nurturing young talent.
“Keep going. Never give up on your goals. Keep chasing your dreams, even at your lowest,” Sewsankar’s advice to younger students.
