Beterverwagting, May 29, 2024 — In a dedicated effort to foster stronger community relations and address local concerns, the Beterverwagting Police Station conducted a comprehensive community outreach on Thursday. The event saw the participation of Superintendent Halley-Smith, Assistant Superintendent Primus, Sergeant Fraser, and other ranks, alongside Lance Corporal Murray from the Community Relations Department.

This outreach is part of a broader initiative by the Guyana Police Force to actively engage with residents and business owners across various communities in the country. The primary objective is to listen to the concerns and suggestions of the community members and work collaboratively towards enhancing peace and security.

Superintendent Halley-Smith emphasized the importance of these interactions, stating, “Engaging directly with the community allows us to better understand their needs and concerns, and it provides an opportunity for us to work together in finding effective solutions.”

Throughout the day, numerous issues were raised by the community members, ranging from safety concerns to suggestions for improving local policing strategies. The police team attentively addressed these issues, offering immediate solutions where possible and committing to follow up on more complex matters.

Assistant Superintendent Primus highlighted the value of such initiatives, noting, “These outreach programs are crucial for building trust between the police and the community. By being present and approachable, we can break down barriers and create a safer, more cooperative environment.”

Lance Corporal Murray from the Community Relations Department also played a significant role in the outreach, underscoring the department’s commitment to maintaining open lines of communication with the public. “Our goal is to ensure that every community member feels heard and supported,” Murray stated.

The outreach in Beterverwagting is part of ongoing efforts within Regional Division 4’C’, with similar activities planned for other communities. The police force remains dedicated to these engagements, recognizing that community collaboration is essential for effective law enforcement and public safety.
