Southport Inquiry: a real one, real results

Gas lines -a study in leadership failure, mixed priorities

By Pt. Ubraj Narine- As I listened to an online social media programme, namely ‘Advancing The Cause’ of the member of the opposition Parliamentarian, it is imperative that we prioritize the well-being and unity of our nation. It is with grave concern that I address the recent attacks on India by one of my colleagues.
This is not the first instance of such behaviour, either in politics or not. i will never allow anyone to disrespect my mother land, which is INDIA.
India, without a doubt, stands as one of the outstanding economies in the world. Its progress and contributions in various fields are globally recognised, and we can not disregard the immense potential for collaboration and growth that exists between our nations.
As representatives responsible for shaping the future of our country, we must refrain from undermining the achievements and reputation of nations we seek to foster positive relationships with.
In an age of social media dominance, we must exercise caution and responsibility in how we utilise these platforms. Our online presence holds the power to reach millions of people instantaneously, and with great power comes great responsibility.
It is crucial that we make conscious efforts to ensure our social media programs do not contribute to the spread of misinformation, inflammatory rhetoric, or disdain towards any community or nation.
At the heart of our political responsibilities lies the common cause of unity for all Guyanese. Our diverse ancestral lineages are a testament to the richness of our nation’s heritage, and we should celebrate and respect the contributions made by all.
It is through discourse and actions that bridge divides, rather than deepen them , that we can foster an inclusive and prosperous society for every citizen.
I urge such a Member of Parliament to consider the impact of her words and actions, not only on bilateral relations but also on the public sentiment towards unity and harmony.
It is vital that we engage in constructive debates that focus on issues that genuinely affect our nation, steering clear of personal attacks and divisive ideologies.
Let us lead by example and champion the spirit of mutual respect, understanding, and cooperation and don’t practice what the PPP government is doing.
We must embrace the principles of unity, respect, and responsible political discourse to build a stronger, more inclusive Guyana for all its citizens.
