The Chinese embassy in Japan on Tuesday expressed its strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition to Japanese politician Taro Aso’s presumptuous and ill-intentioned remarks on China’s Taiwan region, which claimed that something happening in Taiwan has a bearing on Japan’s security.

Noting that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China’s territory and the Taiwan question is entirely China’s internal affair, the embassy said “Taiwan independence” separatist activities and interference instigated by external forces are the biggest sources of chaos threatening the Taiwan Straits.

Only by resolutely curbing provocations seeking “Taiwan independence” can we truly safeguard peace and security, the embassy said, urging the Japanese side to obey the commitments of the four political documents between China and Japan.

Insisting on tying China’s internal affairs to Japan’s security will bring disastrous consequences for itself and the region, the embassy warned in the statement. (CGTN)
