Member of Parliament Annette Ferguson has come out in defence of her colleague Member of Parliament Cathy Hughes against Vice President Bharrat Jagdeo’s vile attack. In a statement, Ferguson quieres how much longer must Guyanese allow Jagdeo to get away with his abrasive behaviour. According her, whilst “Jagdeo believes that he can berate others and just get away with it” she will not let him get away with this attack on her fellow parliamentarian.
The full statement follows:
At his Press Conference yesterday Thursday, November 23., 2023, Mr. Bharrat Jagdeo referred to my female colleague, Hon. Catherine Hughes, MP, as “low life.” I believe Mr. Jagdeo has crossed the line. He is unworthy to sit in any seat of the Ali administration. He has placed a negative image on the current PPP/C regime.
I believe it is TIME Guyanese reject Mr. Jagdeo. How much longer should we continue to allow this man to get away with this behaviour? Jagdeo, in his mind, believed that Guyana was to be willed to him. Every Thursday at his “one man” press conference, where he also moderates, is filled with pettiness, hatred and bitterness.
Jagdeo believes that he can berate others and just get away with it. This man is “bad for Guyana and his time has expired since November 2011.” Because of greed and covetousness, he wants to remain relevant.
In my view, Jagdeo has absolutely NO respect nor regard for women. Just look how he treated Ms. Varshnie Singh, when he fooled Guyanese that they were legally married. I can ONLY imagine how the women in the PPPc are treated by him. I am upset and by right, I have every reason to, because I am WOMAN.
In June 2023, a young Indigenous woman was allegedly raped and sodomised by a then sitting Minister of Government, Mr. Nigel Dharamlall. Not a word of condemnation by Jagdeo and female members of the PPP/C. We witnessed the abuse and outright disrespect by a Minister of Government, who has been convicted of assaulting a female Opposition Member of Parliament. Again, the silence of Mr. Jagdeo, and his female colleagues did NOT condemn him, Mr. Kwame McKoy.
Mr. Bharrat Jagdeo should be reminded that it is a woman, whom he came from and woman MUST be RESPECTED, since we are God’s creation.
Mr. Jagdeo has no shame. He must publicly apologise to Mrs. Catherine Hughes, MP. Jagdeo is NOT above the law. Therefore, I condemn his utterances.
SHAME ON YOU JAGDEO!!!!!
