Agricola, comprising diverse sections, inspired my deeper exploration into the additional information shared by its residents.

An eminent organization within the village is the “Care Givers Great Movement Organization,” dedicated primarily to the well-being of the elderly residents of Agricola. Notably, individuals of all age groups, including children and young adults, are warmly embraced within its ambit.

The Organization’s annual calendar of events commences in March with a delightful outing to Splashmin Resort, marking the senior Recognition Day. This occasion is brimming with diverse activities, including communal meals, games, a lively procession through the village, and a special tribute from an esteemed guest. The late Ms. Philomena Sahoye-Shury had the honor of leading the ceremony on several occasions. On this day, the younger members of the community take it upon themselves to entertain the senior residents, with even the participation of members from the Institute of the Blind.

The organization remains actively engaged throughout the year, culminating in November with events such as the “Keep Fit Walk” and a “Gospel Marathon.” Additionally, they conduct home visits and distribute food hampers and essential items to seniors in need. Ms. Ingrid Cadle, the dedicated chairwoman of the organization, highlights that these events and the day-to-day functioning of the organization are made possible through the generous support of numerous sponsors. She extends heartfelt gratitude to sponsors such as John Fernandes Ltd, The Flour Mill, Colours Boutique, Guysuco, Ansa Macal, and several others.

It’s imperative to acknowledge that this organization owes its existence to the compassionate initiative of both Ms. Cadle and Ms. Tremaine Critchlow, who serves as the Secretary. All of these activities and events take place at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, nestled within Agricola village.

Through acts of benevolence, sharing, and spreading love, this organization continues to strengthen, striving to fulfill the needs of senior citizens in small yet profoundly meaningful ways.

Standing as a testament to the spirit of community, the CARE GIVERS GREAT MOVEMENT ORGANIZATION remains a steadfast presence in Agricola village. In the words of Mother Theresa, “Never worry about numbers. Help one person at a time and always start with the person nearest to you.”
