Today I extend Youman Nabi greetings to fellow Guyanese, particularly our Muslim brothers and sisters, marking the birth anniversary of the last Prophet of Islam – Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
As we observe this important occasion let us reflect on and emulate the way of life of this noble Prophet, especially his contribution in unifying the world, representing the welfare of women and children, who are among the most vulnerable groups in society.
May we all on this day also reflect on the right to religious freedom, enshrined in our Constitution, as so many other rights and freedoms. Let us not only guard these zealously but also envision a world without them and how important it is for us to protect and defend our sovereignty, our rights, our freedoms from enemies, internal and external.
