WEST INDIES RISING STARS IN GROUP B AT ICC MEN’S UNDER-19 WORLD CUP

The West Indies Rising Stars Men’s Under-19 will open their campaign in the ICC Men’s Under-19 World Cup against South Africa, when the tournament bowls off in Sri Lanka in January.

The 2016 champions, installed in Group B, clash with the young Proteas on 14 January at the Colombo Cricket Club, on the second day of the 15th edition of the global showpiece which runs from 13 January to 4 February.

The International Cricket Council unveiled the schedule which will see 16 teams competing across 41 matches at five venues.

West Indies take on Scotland in their second game on 17 January also at the Colombo Cricket Club, before coming up against England on 19 January at Nondescripts Cricket Club.

The Caribbean hosted to the tournament last year when India emerged champions by beating England in the final at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua. India, who will campaign in Group A, open the defense of their title against Bangladesh on 14 January at the R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium.

A revised format will see qualifying teams progressing from the group stages to a new Super Six stage, which features two groups of six teams clashing to determine the final four and the finalists. The final will be at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on 4 February.

West Indies Match Schedule – Group B

14 January: vs South Africa at Colombo Cricket Club

17 January: vs Scotland at Colombo Cricket Club

19 January: vs England at Nondescripts Cricket Club
