In the corridors of Queen’s College and throughout the heart of Guyana, a void has been left by the passing of a remarkable man – Deputy Commissioner (Ret’d) Cecil ‘Skip’ Roberts. He was not only a towering patriot but a name forever etched in the minds of those who served alongside him in the Guyana Police Force.

Skip Roberts was a figure larger than life itself. His presence was felt wherever he went, a testament to his charismatic aura that captivated everyone he encountered.  His legacy as an outstanding sportsman shone brightly during his time at Queen’s College. Skip excelled in cricket and football, and his leadership abilities led him to captain both the Hockey and Rugby teams while representing British Guiana. This legacy was continued through his sons, who followed in his footsteps, particularly in the realm of hockey. His eldest, Jeremy Roberts, has even gone on to play in the Masters’ games, carrying forward the family’s passion for the sport.
