Former Georgetown Mayor, Pt Ubraj Narine has issued a stern condemnation against an act committed by President Irfaan Ali that was caught on  video. Thursday, during the opening of the International Building Expo, Ali was caught on video (seen below) dragging and pushing a member of his security detail while he was actively protecting him.

Narine said in light of the incident Guyanese stand united in expressing deep disappointment and condemnation of President Dr. Irfaan Ali’s inhumane and unprofessional behavior towards his bodyguard

According to Narine, Ali, who claims to be a man for the people, has demonstrated a lack of understanding towards the ordinary citizens he is meant to serve.
The president’s behaviour is not only concerning but also raises questions about his ability to relate to and understand the challenges faced by his fellow citizens, Narine stated. Further, “the behaviour displayed by President Ali is unacceptable and runs counter to the image he has presented himself as, including his promises to be a leader who truly represents the people in his ‘One Guyana ‘s dream.'”

Leadership, Narine said, entails a responsibility to set an example, to foster a culture of respect, and to demonstrate empathy towards others, and Ali’s actions fall short of these expectations, and the lack of professionalism exhibited raises doubts about his suitability for the highest office in our nation.

“The President, as the head of state, must be mindful of the fact that his actions are under scrutiny and have the potential to influence public perceptions. By subjecting his own bodyguard to such treatment, President Ali has shown a disregard for the basic principles of respect and dignity.”
To this end Narine wants the president to reflect on the impact of his actions and issue a public apology to his bodyguard and the people of our nation. It is imperative that he acknowledges the gravity of his behavior and takes steps to make amends for any harm caused.
Narine is also urging, all citizens to uphold the values of respect, dignity, and professionalism in our interactions with one another and to hold our leaders accountable for their actions. “It is only through unity and a commitment to higher standards that we can work towards a better future for our nation.”

Condemnation of President Dr. Irfaan Ali’s Unprofessional Behavior.

In light of recent events at the building expo 2023 at the National Stadium , we stand united in expressing our deep disappointment and condemnation of President Dr. Irfaan Ali’s inhumane and unprofessional behavior towards his bodyguard. The President, who claims to be a man for the people, has demonstrated a lack of understanding towards the ordinary citizens he is meant to serve.

The incident, where President Ali was caught on camera chucking his bodyguard in public, is not only concerning but also raises questions about his ability to relate to and understand the challenges faced by his fellow citizens. The behaviour displayed by President Ali is unacceptable and runs counter to the image he has presented himself as, including his promises to be a leader who truly represents the people in his ” One Guyana ‘s dream”.

Leadership entails a responsibility to set an example, to foster a culture of respect, and to demonstrate empathy towards others. President Ali’s actions fall short of these expectations, and the lack of professionalism exhibited raises doubts about his suitability for the highest office in our nation.

The President, as the head of state, must be mindful of the fact that his actions are under scrutiny and have the potential to influence public perceptions. By subjecting his own bodyguard to such treatment, President Ali has shown a disregard for the basic principles of respect and dignity.

We call on President Dr. Irfaan Ali  to reflect on the impact of his actions and issue a public apology to his bodyguard and the people of our nation. It is imperative that he acknowledges the gravity of his behavior and takes steps to make amends for any harm caused.

As citizens, we expect our leaders to lead with integrity and to be aware of the immense responsibility entrusted to them. President Ali’s actions have betrayed the trust of the people, and we demand better from our elected officials.

We urge all citizens to uphold the values of respect, dignity, and professionalism in our interactions with one another and to hold our leaders accountable for their actions. It is only through unity and a commitment to higher standards that we can work towards a better future for our nation.
