The Caribbean Guyana Institute for Democracy (CGID), in a statement announced the Institute, in collaboration with several other Guyanese diaspora organisations in the United States (U.S), will convene a high-level, two-day conference and briefing on Guyana on September 18, 2023, in Washington DC.

The conference will be held under the theme “Combating Racism, Inequality, Injustice And A One Party Ethnocracy In Guyana.”

“Senior U.S Government officials, international organisations, U.S Exim Bank, multilateral financial institutions, investors, Caribbean organisations and Guyanese Diaspora leaders will be invited to participate in this historic, first of its kind forum on Guyana.”

The objective of the conference and briefing, the organisations said, is to present a comprehensive analysis of the political situation in Guyana and to create an unambiguous awareness of Guyana’s slide towards a racist dictatorship, under the PPP regime, which is arguably the most anti-black government in the Western Hemisphere. We will also pursue the establishment of a permanent working group to facilitate the free exchange of information between the U.S government and the Guyanese diaspora.

The Guyanese Diaspora organisations said they believe the Biden Administration, including the U.S Ambassador in Guyana, is propping up the racist PPP regime and disregarding its apartheid-like policies, massive corruption and criminal enterprises; including taking bribes from investors, and pervasive Police brutality and persecution of Blacks and opposition supporters, in the interest of US energy security.

The grouping said there must be a more pragmatic U.S foreign Policy on Guyana because the current policy is disfavourable and discriminatory to half of the population and Blacks. “This is unacceptable and must end! The conference will address these and other matters. Information on conference and registration details will be made available shortly on a special website, which will be created for the forum.”
