This did not seem to go down well with Exxon’s top brass, so much so, that later in June, a delegation, led by a Vice President arrived in Guyana for meeting with the President. June 27, 2016, was earmarked for signing.”

2. Page 38, “For the record, I (Minister Trotman) was not the ONE TO INITIATE ANY DISCUSSION with EXXON, about a RENEGOTIATION of the 1999 CONTRACT. I (Minister Trotman was informed early in 2016, by Minister Carl Greenidge, and confirmed by the President, that there was going to be support to the Government of Guyana, and that I (Minister Trotman) needed to facilitate and accommodate.”

3. Page 40, “The FALSE NARRATIVE that Trotman and other Ministers received USD $18 Million. The letter that was LEAKED, CONFIRMED, the BANK OF GUYANA GOVERNOR RECEIVED THE MONEY and DEPOSITED in the FEDERAL RESERVE BANK in the United States.”

4. Page 41, “I (Minister Trotman) NEVER IGNORED the advice of “EXPERTS”, but instead followed INSTRUCTIONS Received. I know Dr. Mangal, in particular, had views on what an agreement with Exxon should look like, and I (Minister Trotman) am aware, that he (Dr. Mangal) shared those views with the President, as I (Minister Trotman) did. It was no secret than an agreement with Exxon, Hess and CNOOC was in the works.”

5. Page 41, “The STABILITY CLAUSE, was contained in the DRAFT that GGMC forwarded to me, and on inquiry, I ( Minister Trotman) was told, that THIS WAS THE CLAUSE USED IN THE ANADARKO AGREEMENT and REPEATED in the RATIO OIL Agreement. ANADARKO RESEARCH VESSEL was SIEZED BY the VENEZUELEAN NAVY. EXXON was insisting on a STRONG STABILITY CLAUSE, as it was taking a LOT OF RISK.”

6. Page 42, “ The agreement was signed in Guyana in June 2016, and in the presence of several persons, were the Registrar of the High Court, Mr. Rashid Mohammed and Sir Shridath Ramphal.”

7. Page 42, “ I, (Minister Trotman), WAS NEVER ACTING ALONE, and did seek, and obtained, CABINET’S APPROVAL, to enter into the Agreement. Some weeks later the MINISTER OF FINANCE, TABLED A MOTION for a RESOLUTION to be ADOPTED by the NATIONAL ASSEMBLY. None of this could have been accomplished by me (Minister Trotman) ACTING ALONE.  SUPPORT and APPROVAL was from the PRESIDENT and CABINET.”

Servant Leadership Principles, Practices and Ethics.

Conflicts, disharmonies, , and disagreements are daily global occurrences.  It may take herculean efforts by citizens of Guyana to incorporate and inculcate Servant Leadership principles, practices, and ethics at all levels of the society.  Servant Leadership will be an ASSET as Guyana works toward National economic, social, spiritual, cultural, and entrepreneurial improvement.  Governments, Politicians and Leaders to be with DEEDS not WORDS. “ Res non Verba.”

Seven KEY items for ideas, projects and plans, are Vision, Team, Plan, Resources, Execution, Leadership and Evaluation.

  • VISION: It is critical to clearly establish vision in consultation with others, to enable refinements. The BIG PICTURE will be supremely helpful if goals are to be accomplished.
  • TEAM:No person possesses all knowledge, so it will be smart to work in teams to boost cross fertilization of ideas, plans, hopes, dreams, and goals. Inclusion of many persons with various skill sets will move the vision toward execution.  DO NOT SELECT ONLY PERSONS WHO WILL AGREE WITH YOU, as critical constructive evaluations will be needed.
  • PLAN: Successful ventures start with a plan that must be constantly updated with applicable timelines for each line item.
  • RESOURCES: The availability and quantity of human, financial and material resources can be critical at various stages to ensure project success.
  • EXECUTION:Many superb visions, ideas or plans die at this phase for many reasons, including lack of project management skills.  A “take charge, get it done” person, will enable successful execution.
  • LEADERSHIP:The goal of leadership is to set the example from the top, utilizing active listening. To be successful, servant leaders need to be strategic listeners, celebrate successes, coach DO NOT TELL, and cultivate learning attitudes.
  • EVALUATION: It is very important to do constructive critical analysis at various stages, to review and to make the necessary refinements aimed at present and future improvements.

The term Servant-Leadership was first coined in a 1970 essay titled “The Servant as Leader”, by Robert K. Greenleaf (1904-1990).  Greenleaf, born in Terre Haute, Indiana, USA, spent most of his organizational life in the field of management research, development, and education at AT&T.

Greenleaf’s ten attributes to Servant Leadership are: Listening, Empathy, Healing, Awareness, Persuasion, Conceptualization, Foresight, Stewardship, Commitment to the growth of people, and Building community.

  1. Listening: Traditionally, and also in servant leadership, managers are required to have communication skills as well as the competence to make decisions. A servant leader has the motivation to listen actively to subordinates and support them in decision identification.
  2. Empathy:A servant leader attempts to understand and empathize with others. Workers may be considered not only as employees, but also as people who need respect and appreciation for their personal development.
  3. Healing:A great strength of a Servant Leader is the ability to heal oneself and others. A servant leader tries to help people solve their problems and conflicts in relationships, because he wants to encourage and support the personal development of everyone.
  4. Awareness: A servant leader needs to gain general awareness and especially self-awareness. He has the ability to view situations from a more integrated, holistic position. As a result, he gets a better understanding about ethics and values.
  1. Persuasion: A Servant Leader does not take advantage of their power and status by coercing compliance; they rather try to convince those they manage.
  2. Conceptualization: A servant leader thinks beyond day-to-day realities. That means he has the ability to see beyond the limits of the operating business and also focuses on long term operating goals.
  3. Foresight: Foresight is the ability to foresee the likely outcome of a situation. It enables the servant leader to learn about the past and to achieve a better understanding about the current reality. It also enables the servant leader to identify consequences for the future. This characteristic is closely related to conceptualization.
  4. Stewardship: CEOs, staff and trustees have the task of holding their institution in trust for the greater good of society. Servant leadership is seen as an obligation to help and serve others. Openness and persuasion are more important than control.
  5. Commitment to the growth of people: A servant leader is convinced that people have an intrinsic value beyond their contributions as workers. Therefore, they should nurture the personal, professional, and spiritual growth of employees
  6. Building community: A servant leader identifies the means to build a strong community within his organization and wants to develop a true community among businesses and institutions.

SERVANT LEADERS

Quote, Ron Alert, Maryland & Washington, USA “ A SERVANT LEADER NEED TO LOVE THE PEOPLE, SO AS TO SERVE THE PEOPLE.”  This is A GOOD and timely TIP to ALL Guyanese Leaders, Politicians and Caring Persons, with DEEDS not WORDS.

  8. Do not surround Yourself with wrong people who will continue to WORSHIP YOU, and you become to accept FLATTERY.
  9. POWER do not CHANGE PEOPLE
  10. POWER REVEALS who YOU TRULY REALLY ARE.
  11. Good SERVANT LEADER, is when You receive a letter from a Citizen, he or she should by acknowledged with A RESPONSE. Many LEADERS never respond, due to ARROGANCE.

  13. Power is TEMPORAL, We do our bit, ENTER and LEAVE.
  14. Let HUMILITY be YOUR SHADOW.
  15. To remember BY OCCUPYING POSITIONS of LEADERSHIP, do not make You a Leader.
  16. TO BE WEALTHY, THE SHORTEST WAY is FROM PUBLIC OFFICE,
  17. POWER, PRIVILEDGE and OPPORTUNITY to be WEALTHY, as a temptation.
  18. POLITICIANS IN OFFICE, DO SO MANY WRONG THINGS so they work to stay on FOR IMMUNITY.
  19. Some LEADERS LEAVE OFFICE and do FANTASTIC WORK, as MEN and WOMEN of INTEGRITY
  20. Many WHO DO NOT LEAVE THE OFFICE should be arrested.
