Staff members of the Amerindian Peoples Association (APA) today participated in a picketing exercise outside the Arthur Chung Conference Center, showing their support for a fair and transparent investigation into the allegations against the Minister of Local Government and Regional Development, Nigel Dharamlall. Organized by Red Thread Women: Crossroads Women’s Centre, this demonstration aims to highlight the need for accountability and justice in addressing these serious allegations.

The APA, a prominent organization advocating for the rights and welfare of indigenous peoples in Guyana, has taken a stand to ensure that any allegations against public officials are thoroughly investigated without bias or favoritism. By participating in this picketing exercise, APA staff members are sending a strong message that integrity and transparency are fundamental pillars of good governance.

The allegations against Minister Nigel Dharamlall have raised concerns among the public, warranting a comprehensive investigation that leaves no room for doubt or suspicion. The demand for fairness and transparency in this process aligns with the principles of justice and accountability that form the bedrock of a functioning democracy.

Red Thread Women, a women’s rights organization dedicated to promoting gender equality and social justice, has played a crucial role in organizing this picketing exercise. Their support underscores the importance of standing together in times of crisis, especially when allegations of misconduct involving public officials emerge.

This demonstration serves as a reminder that all individuals, regardless of their position or influence, must be held accountable for their actions. The call for a fair and transparent investigation not only demonstrates a commitment to upholding the principles of justice but also fosters public trust in the governance systems of our country.
