Guyana will host the 32nd Annual Caribbean Water and Wastewater Association (CWWA) Conference and Exhibition, scheduled for October 23 to 27, 2023. This event, which is themed “Accelerating Change in the Water, Wastewater, and Solid Waste Sectors,” will be held at the Georgetown Marriott.

Monday a delegation from the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) met with Minister of Housing and Water, Minister Collin Croal, and Permanent Secretary Andre Ally to provide an update on the planning for the conference’s activities. The delegation included CWWA President, Lt. Col. Marlon Daniels; CWWA Public Relations Officer, Angela Franklin; CWWA 2023 LOC Chair, Amanda Ramgobind; and LOC Members Aubrey Roberts and Tamika Jeffrey. The CWWA serves as the premier organization within the region, bringing together professionals, suppliers, service providers, and dignitaries from the water and waste sectors.

During the meeting, CWWA President Marlon Daniels provided a brief overview of the conference and highlighted the expectations for the event. It is anticipated there will be over 300 delegates, including exhibitors, technical paper presenters, and dignitaries from across the Caribbean Region and internationally.

The LOC aims to attract 100 exhibitors, showcase 80 technical papers, and host 40 ministers and/or representatives and advisors responsible for the water and waste sectors in the region. Daniels emphasised, “This is an excellent opportunity for our local businesses and practitioners in the water and waste sectors to network and learn from the experiences of others in the region and internationally.”
