It was billed as the fight of the century. The greatest sporting event, ever. Rumble in the jungle. Ali versus Foreman. For Foreman had it all. Height. Reach. Weight. And POWER! Therefore, it was of minimal surprise that Ali was counted underdog. But a vociferous underdog he stood. An underdog who was quietly confident. Quietly confident, with a weapon unknown. A weapon unknown, now known as the Rope-a-dope.

And the rope-a-dope he skillfully executed. Skillfully executed, as he goaded Foreman, to punch himself into stupefying exhaustion. Then being stupefyingly exhausted, meant it was a legless Foreman, against an indefatigable Ali. Thus, the onslaught the world saw. A pummelling for a punch fatigue Foreman. A pummelling that saw the Zaire crowd taking to their feet. Taking to their feet shouting on top of their lungs. On top of their lungs, with trumpeted voices, they bellowed. Ali Bomaye. Ali Bomaye. Ali Bomaye. Ali kill him. Ali kill him. Ali kill him.

Rumble in Georgetown Jungle

For this was billed as the Local Government Election battle of the century. The greatest battle in Georgetown, ever. The Rumble in Georgetown jungle. The Rumble in Georgetown garbage. PPP versus APNU. But PPP had it all. The State apparatus. The State media. The Private Media. The Private Sector. Oil money. GECOM. But despite what they had; PPP coveted more. APNU and independent defectors. Patricia chasing the green. Rent a dread Malcolm. Treacherous Richards.

Which meant, with such overwhelming power, not many wager on APNU. As a matter fact, loud whispers of a red wave permeated our 83,000sq miles. And these whispers certainly fed PPP arrogant confidence. Thus, with confidence off the scale, PPP promised much. Promising much, with Ranting Roseann assuring the electorate of tax breaks; a break from taxes. However, he wasn’t alone, as the University dropout promised a Rose Garden, among other Adam and Eve fantastical stories. But APNU was quietly confident. Quietly confident, as they assiduously campaigned. Canvassing house to house, reminding all and many of PPP atrocities.

To that end, the masses were reminded of Success and the Noah floods. The masses were reminded of Mocha and the apocalyptic destruction of homes. The masses were reminded of Linden and the cataclysmic annihilation of houses and farm animals. The masses were reminded of Wismar and the Armageddon destruction of properties. The masses were reminded of the street vendors who were bullied and beaten for earning a honest dollar.

The masses were reminded that Georgetown was transformed into a jungle City, since PPP withheld the Council’s subventions, worth billions. The masses were reminded that Georgetown was transformed into a garbage City, since PPP withheld the Council’s subventions, worth billions. The masses were reminded of extrajudicial killings. The Henry boys murders. The Crum-Ewing murder. The many murdered, including a sleeping Orin Boston.

Further, the masses were reminded of the preferential treatment in PPP strongholds. For they were rewarded house-lots. They were rewarded properties. They were rewarded billions to develop their communities. They were rewarded roads. For they were exalted above the law, so committed terroristic acts with impunity. Committed racist acts with impunity. Committed riotous acts with impunity.

Which meant, from their policies, two Guyanas evolved, as they promoted one. For the division was good versus evil. Angels versus demons. Victims versus terrorists. Workers versus thieves. PPP versus APNU+AFC. Thus, it was on this backdrop, the Local Government Elections were conducted.

Mark’s Take

And quite an election it turned out to be, with the masses once again rejecting PPP and their separatist racist agenda. For this was certainly a referendum on the 2020 elections. This was certainly a referendum on Success. This was certainly a referendum on Linden. This was certainly a referendum on Mocha. This was certainly a referendum on Wismar. This was certainly a referendum on street vending. This was certainly a referendum on the impoverished. For the message from the masses was unambiguous. Unambiguous and explicit. We shan’t be taken for granted. Abuse us at your own peril.

But an arrogantly confident PPP disregarded the masses’ warnings. So continued, they did, on their campaign of destruction, division and racism. Which meant, with their racist division, APNU+AFC One Guyana was made two. Two, having been divided like Moses Red Sea. However, cockily blinded they were. So cockily blinded, that they mistook the divided Red Sea, for a sea of red supporters. But far from supporters were they. For APNU Bomaye. APNU Bomaye. APNU Bomaye.
