FRAUD ALERT!

It has been brought to the Village Voice News’ attention the circulation of misinformation on what appears to be a Village Voice page, dated June 13, 2023, which carries front page headlines “LGE 2023: President-Elect Norton to name Cabinet on Friday,” “APNU wins 14 out of 80 LAAs,” “APNU loses Bartica for time in decades,” “Mahdia tied-PPP/C likely to control,” stories.

The management of Village Voice News (VVN) wishes to disassociate itself from this fake publication and stories therein which are classified as a work of political mischief.

It should be noted this fabrication has come in the wake of Local Government Elections (LGE) which stories from VVN seemed to have struck a wrong cord for Vice President Jagdeo who has repeatedly singled out this online newspaper over the past few days.

The intention of the perpetrators is to sow seeds of discord, misrepresent the LGE and interfere with the work and independence of the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) that has not yet declared the results.

Members of the public should take note of the extent to which some will go or stoop to create mischief, division, and tension in society.

One must also think about such fabrication in our electorate system, Births and Deaths where they can create greater damage. We know this is the work of a wicked cabal and one must also think about what other forgery could engage in with official documents.

Society will recall, only too well, the fake Statements of Poll in the 2020 General and Regional Elections, some of which were revealed to have dates preceding the elections.

VVN condemns those who can only play dirty games and make trouble for the newspaper.
