Ms. Alisha Koulen, has been chosen as one of the distinguished delegates representing Guyana at the upcoming COP28 International Climate Conference. Ms Koulen is STEMGuyana’s Operations Manager, and according to a recently released statement, ” the STEMGuyana community is thrilled and proud that Alisha is at the forefront, championing youth inclusion in climate policies and representing Guyana on this global stage. Congratulations to her on this remarkable achievement!”

In an effort to expand youth participation and ensure diverse representation in climate change policy-making, the COP28 Presidency UAE announced the selection of 100 delegates for the International Youth Climate Delegate Program. This initiative aims to embed young delegates within the COP process, with a particular emphasis on delegates from countries listed as Least Developed Countries (LDCs), Small Island Developing States (SIDS), Indigenous Peoples, and other minority groups worldwide. The program, led by COP28 Youth Climate Champion Her Excellency Shamma Al Mazrui in collaboration with YOUNGO, the Official Children and Youth Constituency of the UNFCCC, strives to create a model for youth inclusion in the COP process moving forward.
