Patricia Chasing the Green

On their political calendar, it was billed as the grandest of days. Their day of political drama. Local Government Elections Nomination. A monumental day of political inductions. However, induction was easier said than done. For this was the question unresolved—Who will undertake it, notwithstanding a multitude baying? A squabbling multitude with political daggers, clasped in oily hands. But then, from the underbelly of the pandemonium, one speaketh, the blasphemous Bishop—The dead should bury the dead. And with that, Dr. Bheri Ramsaran, political dead extraordinaire, stood to induct another political dead extraordinaire.

“My comrades, verily verily I say unto you, she is now counted amongst us. A former Mayor-accused of corruption-who birthed the scandalous Parking Meter. A former Mayor we politically undressed in a COI. A former Mayor who was Judicially instructed to SHUT UP. A former Mayor whose parking meter was shot down by APNU+AFC. A former Mayor who endeavours to chase green. A former Mayor, of Charrandass genome, thus certified, Patricia Chasing the Green.”

Political expediency

The fact is, if the challenge was mine to characterise Patricia Chasing the Green, I would be compelled to proffer self-interest. Unprincipled. Self-regarding. Opportunistic. Detestable. Devious. Abhorrent. Odious. Vengeful, among other such inauspicious labels.

Having said that, if a polling on politicians was to be undertaken, the reality is, most would unanimously concur, politicians are the most sleazy of characters. That said, the PPP politicians have taken sleaze to the sinful extremes. Which means, any politician that voluntarily cohabits Freedom House, isn’t doing so out of political principles, for PPP is devoid of such. Therefore, Patricia Chasing the Green political crossover must be appraised in this context—Her breaching the political demarcation, was out of self-interest and political expediency.

However, many maybe of the conviction, not supported by evidence, that I’m an APNU+AFC apologist. But for the reassurance of all, this must be articulated, my PPP assertions are both fair and democratically necessary, to remind all and many, PPP isn’t a homogenised group of saints. In fact, remiss it would be, to assert APNU+AFC are all of sainthood genealogy whilst PPP are all demonic miscreants. For this is the reality—Patricia Chasing the Green was birthed out of the APNU+AFC political womb, and far from a saint is she. Having said that, our politics is of a binary choice; the lesser of the two political evils. Of which, at least in the estimation of most, APNU+AFC would represent a cohort of saints, when compared to a politically backsliding PPP. Therefore, the inescapable question remains, why did Patricia Chasing the Green cross the floor, to be in the land of political trespassers?

Thus, this I share, individuals may enter politics for varied reasons, albeit many would argue that it’s for the betterment of others. However, we know this isn’t thoroughly true, for many enter politics, on account of personal interest. Having said that, they remain a cohort who would’ve entered, to give voice to minority and marginalised groups. That said, this represents a minority, since many are blinded by the 30 pieces of silver. However, au contraire, some do enter politics for the betterment of their communities, whilst others may enter for the opportunities to network in newly established relationships. Nevertheless, this is paramount, most take the political route for job security, the high wages and governmental benefits.

Notwithstanding, regardless of the individual motivation for entering politics, loyalty to the voting base remains nonnegotiable. However, loyalty is no more necessitous, than in the turmoil of our present political climate. For it’s without doubt, under PPP, a significant section of our society, is being neglected. For it’s without doubt, under PPP, a significant section of our society, is being discriminated against. For it’s without doubt, under PPP, a significant section of our society, is being marginalised. For it’s without doubt, under PPP, a significant section of our society, is being victimised.

But this the reality, that section of society, being discriminated against, victimised, marginalised and neglected, has shown undying loyalty to Patricia Chase-Green, dating back to 1994. However, unfortunately in their time of dire need, it’s not in Patricia Chase-Green’s DNA, to reciprocate such loyalty. In fact, the evidence is now unambiguously ubiquitous, Patricia Chase-Green only looks out for Patricia Chase-Green. Where the underpinning reason is, Nurse Patricia Chase-Green unashamedly entered politics for personal gains and enrichment. And for this reason, from this day of betrayal henceforth, Nurse Patricia Chase-Green et al, must be denied your undying loyalty.
