ST JOHN’S, Antigua – West Indies Academy will face Team Headley in the first match of the Headley Weekes Tri-Series tournament. The four-day first-class match start on Wednesday at the Coolidge Cricket Ground (CCG). First ball daily is 10am (9am Jamaica).

The Tri-Series, which also features Team Weekes, comprises three matches and will run from 19 April to 6 May. In the second match starting 16 April, Team Weekes face West Indies Academy and will then face Team Headley from 3-6 May.

Captains Joshua Da Silva and Nyeem Young spoke to CWI Media during training sessions at CCG in the preview to the match.

Young said:

“I’m very comfortable with the role as captain, this is my second time leading the team … I was captain for the CG United Super50 tournament, which was played here last year with the same group of players. This is a great opportunity for all of us as players and a great environment to be in.”

Da Silva said:

“We get to play more cricket in this tournament so that’s a very good thing for us … So to get two more games under our belt and to have these games as first class games as well really helps. It goes towards your stats so the boys aren’t going to take it lightly. At the end of the day, we’re going to play as hard as we can and we’re looking to win.”

All matches in the Headley Weekes Tri-Series will be streamed LIVE on the Windies Cricket YouTube channel with live scorecards and ball-by-ball scoring on the Windiescricket.com live match centre.
