Jermain Semple, a 32-year-old police sergeant, has been hospitalized after allegedly being shot by Fawazz McRae, a 27-year-old building contractor, at the Crown and Anchor Grill and Bar in Linden on March 12th, 2023, at approximately 9:30 pm.

According to the investigation, Jermain Semple, his brother Dervon Semple, and his cousin Fawazz McRae, all members of the Tactical Services Unit, were at the bar when a fight broke out between Jermain and his brother. Fawazz intervened, and a scuffle ensued between Fawazz and Jermain, resulting in Fawazz drawing his licensed handgun, a .32 pistol, and firing two rounds at Jermain. One bullet struck Jermain in the head, causing severe injuries. He was immediately transported to the Linden Hospital Complex and later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Cooperation for further medical attention. His condition is currently serious.
