The Shadow Minister also called for urgent action to prevent any future occurrence of such incidents, stating that “the relevant protocols and procedures must be clearly outlined, communicated, and understood by all in order to avoid the reoccurrence of such embarrassing incidents.”

This incident has caused concern among the diplomatic community and Guyanese citizens, and Hon. Walton-Desir’s statement reflects the need for immediate attention to be given to the treatment of foreign dignitaries in the country.
