The Guyana Police Force, in a release, stated a 44-year-old businessman from Wismar, Linden, is now in custody afterranks unearthed 2069.8 grams of cannabis in a building located at Bayrock Junction, One Mile Extension, Wismar, where he was the lone occupant.
According to the police on Monday, February 13, 2023, at about 14:00 hours, a party of police ranks led by two Inspectors, acting on information received, proceeded to the aforementioned area where they made contact with the suspect, a 44-year-old businessman of Canvas City, Wismar, who was alone at the time in the building.
The Police said the ranks identified themselves and told the suspect they received information he had narcotics in his possession for trafficking.
The ranks then proceeded into the building, where they conducted a search, during which a black plastic bag was discovered under a wooden counter containing several ziplock bags with leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis.
The man was told of the offence committed and cautioned. The ranks then conducted a further search at the back of the building, where they discovered a bucket containing three black plastic bags containing a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be Cannabis Sativa.
The suspect admitted ownership of the narcotics.
The 44-year-old man was arrested and escorted to the Mackenzie Police Station, where the suspected marijuana was weighed in his presence and amounted to 2069.8 grams.
The man is in custody pending further investigation and charges. (Police Release)
