Freddie seemed good at what the boys would say ‘a sand dancing.’

Dear Editor,

Because I have the time, I read the feature columns of two independent papers, Kaieteur News and Stabroek News.

Today I was disappointed and how horrified I was about two things in the Freddie Kissoon Column.

First, how dare him attack the Stabroek News Editorial, whose writings have always been intelligently constructed and have always given wise advice to citizens and in other circumstances, the question of visas addressed in support of the Editorial and worthy of consideration.

Second, Freddie has now publicly given support to President Ali and his Administration. He even suggested that Ali is not bound to consult on important national issues.

I am surprised Freddie ought to know there is a moral, legal and constitutional requirement for President Ali to consult.

Freddie must therefore say if he is being disrespectful supporting this move to dictatorship. If you have, the President who feels there is no need for meaningful consultation then you are supporting an unhealthy dictatorship.

But Freddie seemed good at what the boys would say ‘ a sand dancing.’ If his good friend Charandass Persaud was not captured  being disrespectful to an Indian lady in New Delhi, his good friend would have been labeled a Saint by Freddie.

On this sordid matter, Freddie must say publicly why only after Charandass’ abuse is revealed one year after, he is recalled by President Ali.

The propaganda gurus defending President Ali claimed the President was unaware of this incident.

There is Lord Nelson’s famous calypso – King Liar, in a competition to see who would be crowned the best liar  –  “ you hear lie, that is lie.”

Freddie must write that under Ali’s watch, we are in the midst of the horrors of the Police State. The killing of Boston at Dartmouth, the refusal by the Government to accept help to identify the killers of the Henry’s cousins in West Coast Berbice, the silence on the President’s refusal to consult on the appointment of the Chancellor and Chief Justice, the awards of contracts to Contractors  who are blacklisted for their poor performance and the waste of State funds.

So we now have a full Police State Freddie, the Chief Citizen is being arrested at City Hall for expressing a view shared by many of us and we’re told that democracy allows for free speech and expression of views.

There are  other matters, but for now I await Freddie’s comments on the above.

Eric Moseley, MS
