Injured West Berbice man dies at GPHC

31-year-old Quason Benjamin died at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) on Monday, December 5th, 2022.

He hailed from No.28 on the West Coast of Berbice and was a staff of Guyana Water Incorporation ( GWI) at their West Berbice branch.

According to the dead man’s relatives, he was hospitalised due to the fact he met in an accident on November 21st, 2022.

Both of Benjamin’s legs were broken as well as his left arm.

The relatives of Quason Benjamin, claim that he was left on a bed for six days without any surgery performed on him.

“On Monday 28th November he had surgery to put steel in one of his feet. However, it was unsuccessful because they noticed a blood clot in his lungs,” a relative told this publication.

The Surgery was stopped and he was placed in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Via a telephone interview with this publication, a relative noted that, “while in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) they gave him medication to dissolve the blood clot.”

Benjamin remained in the ICU until his demise on December 5th, 2022.
